FGP never being one to stand still have again embarked on a new opportunity.
Throughout May & June FGP engineering & production departments will be providing a full turnkey engineering solution to the new machining facility in Cardiff.
16 weeks since the inception of the project to provide the Cardiff facility with sate of the art machine capabilities FGP has been working tirelessly to support the development of machining excellence at the heart of the city, every nut, bolt, washer, fixture & tool has been procured and manufactured to launch this initiative.
Time flies, we have taken delivery of the two 2.6meter five axis machining centres.
The machines chosen to be the back bone of this operation marks a departure from the traditional 5 axis equipment used by FGP, previous machine constructions being trunnion or B/C knee type, the two new machines are of B axis in the head C axis in table construction.
With 2600mm machining envelop and 2500kg load capacity the machine will add another dimension to the already impressive machining capabilities within group.
Rapid metal removal rates will be achieved with the aid of the 18000rpm spindle coupled to HSK63A spindle tooling, 230 extended tool magazine will cut set up time to fraction of those normally associated with complex prismatic parts.
With a steep learning curve needed to get the machine operational, every effort has been made to ease the process of fixture setup, tool setting in such a way that these aspects become second nature to the operators.
Over the coming weeks FGP has every confidence in the Cardiff operation to succeed.
